Founded by former professional player and hitting coach Matt Pita, The Armory delivers elite-level instruction within a family-first culture. One that pushes athletes to rise above the average and separate from the pack.
Every session is intentional. Every rep is earned. We focus on mechanics, mindset, and measurable growth. We don’t just train players to play the game, we develop them to own it.

Our Journey
Baseball has shaped nearly every chapter of my life. From growing up with a glove in my hand to earning a Division I scholarship at Virginia Military Institute, the game taught me discipline, accountability, and how to lead. After three years at VMI, and being named Virginia State Player of the Year, Third-Team All-American, Conference player of the year, and more, I spent six seasons in the New York Yankees organization as well as one year in Independent Baseball, learning from some of the best minds in baseball. When my playing days ended, I knew I wasn’t finished with the game. Coaching became my next passion, helping players unlock the same potential the game once pulled out of me. Today, as a hitting coach for the Miami Marlins, I bring that same professional insight, structure, and attention to detail to The Armory. The Armory is more than just a facility, it’s a reflection of my family’s journey. They followed me to every field, bought a home near VMI just to be part of the dream, and now, they’re helping me build a place for others to chase theirs. This is our way of giving back to the game that’s given us everything.
The Armory combines my experiences as a player and coach to help athletes unlock their full potential through intentional, game-like training. We focus on learning from mistakes, adapting under pressure, and building confidence through challenge, all to prepare players to perform when it matters most. The closer training feels to the game, the more natural success becomes, and that’s our ultimate goal at The Armory.
